“Springtime in
Tuscany”
Thank you to the sponsors, volunteers, staff and guests for Springtime
in Tuscany! This Asthma Allies sponsored event was held on Saturday, May 1st
at Seasons Rotisserie & Grill. The annual Camp Cough No Mas fundraising
event featured the 2010 Asthma Allies All-Star Awards presentation, a silent auction
and fantastic entertainment. Once again
our emcee, Shelly Ribando, was fabulous!
Springtime in Tuscany proceeds
benefit Camp Cough No Mas. Camp Cough No Mas debuted in the summer of
2009 as the only week long asthma camp for New Mexican youth. A total of twelve
campers were able to experience this life changing activity and their families
were able to see their children accomplish things that they never thought they
could.
This year, through a partnership with the
YMCA of Central New Mexico, Camp Cough No Mas will take on a day camp format.
Camp will be held on June 21-25th (7am-6pm) at the Osuna Elementary
School; Albuquerque, New Mexico. The theme of the week: Olympics!
Any child with asthma aged 5-13 can be a
camper. One great benefit of this camp:
siblings without asthma are encouraged to participate in the YMCA day camp
at the same location. Although each
camp will have its own camp staff, some planned activities will involve both
Camp Cough No Mas and the YMCA campers.
Camp Cough No Mas is staffed with an extremely
competent activities’ staff and a dedicated clinical staff that includes a
pediatric pulmonologist, experienced nurses, and respiratory therapists with
critical care backgrounds.
